Parice C. Halbert, CFA, Managing Director
Parice Halbert has worked on Wall Street for over sixteen years as both a sell-side and buy-side analyst following healthcare stocks. Beginning in 1991 with Dain Bosworth (now RBC Capital Markets) in Minneapolis, Parice initially supported a team of three analysts. In this role, Parice gained broad exposure to the Medical Technology, Healthcare Services and Pharmaceutical sectors. In 1994, Dain promoted Parice to Analyst, and she followed medical technology stocks. In addition to company-specific research reports, Parice also authored thematic pieces such as the FDA approval process and various industry primers.
Parice established a franchise among institutional investors for her early coverage of the Urology and Laser Vision Correction sectors where she was among the first to make successful calls on many of the companies in these emerging fields. Parice´s positive reputation among many mutual fund and hedge fund accounts as an in-the-trenches fundamental analyst and a good stock picker formed the basis of numerous relationships that she currently maintains with her former buy-side clients.
In 1998 and 1999, Parice was part of Dain Bosworth´s team of three senior healthcare analysts named one of Institutional Investor magazine´s top-ranked Medical Technology teams in "The Best of the Boutiques and Regionals" edition. During Parice´s eight years on the sell-side, she was also engaged in the execution of a number of IPO and follow-on equity transactions.
In 1999, American Express Financial Advisors (now Ameriprise Financial/RiverSource) hired Parice to cover the medical technology, diagnostics, healthcare services and specialty pharmaceuticals sectors. As an analyst, she worked closely with the many mutual fund portfolio managers to provide industry expertise and timely stock recommendations. In 2002, Parice was promoted to analyst and co-portfolio manager of an AmEx hedge fund where she was responsible for the fund´s healthcare investments.
Parice holds an M.B.A. from Johns Hopkins University and received her B.A. in Economics from The Colorado College. She is also a CFA. After living in Denver and then Minneapolis, Parice now embraces the warmer climate of Maryland where she is an avid runner and cyclist and a marginal swimmer.
