John R. Woolford, Principal

John Woolford has a combined 12 years of Wall Street and industry experience focused on the biotechnology and life sciences industry. In 1999, John joined the Life Sciences Equity Research group at Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc., now part of Stifel Nicolas, as an Associate Analyst. In this role, he assisted Stefan Loren, Ph.D., Managing Director, in the coverage of several life science companies ranging from large pharmaceutical companies to micro-cap genomic companies. In 2003, John was promoted to Senior Equity Analyst at Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc., following the Biotechnology/Life Science sector, with a focus on both early stage drug discovery companies and pharmaceutical service and product suppliers. Most recently, he was Director of Finance and Strategic Planning at Lentigen Corporation, a venture-stage biotechnology company, with responsibility for corporate positioning, strategy and capital raising.

During his career, John has assisted various companies with capital raising and strategic advisory, including companies such as: Array BioPharma, ArQule, Genaissance Pharmaceuticals, Telik, Cyclis Pharmaceuticals, Indevus Pharmaceuticals, Isolagen, Pharmacopeia, Palatin Technologies, Therion Biologics, and Palatin Technologies.
He began his career in operational roles at Primedica Corporation, now a subsidiary of Charles River Labs and MedImmune, Inc., now a subsidiary of AstraZeneca International. Most recently, he was Director of Finance and Strategic Planning at Lentigen Corporation, a venture-stage biotechnology company, with responsibility for corporate positioning, strategy and capital raising.

Mr. Woolford received an M.B.A from the R.H. Smith School of Business and a B.S. degree in Microbiology from the University of Maryland at College Park. He lives in Baltimore, MD with his wife and two children.
